True freshman wide receiver Germie Bernard has entered the transfer portal, a Michigan State spokesperson confirmed to Spartans Illustrated. Bernard is the eighth MSU player to enter the portal in this cycle thus far.

Bernard totaled seven receptions, 128 receiving yards, two receiving touchdowns, six kick returns and 119 kick return yards in 12 games played for the Spartans this season. Bernard will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Bernard was a former four-star recruit out of Henderson, Nevada. He was one of the top prospects in MSU’s 2022 recruiting class.

At the wide receiver position, redshirt senior Jayden Reed has already declared for the NFL Draft. Keon Coleman (who just finished his sophomore season in 2022) and Tre Mosley (who just finished his redshirt junior year) are expected to return and to be the leading receivers in 2023.

MSU does not have a 2023 commit at wide receiver, but three-star recruit Aziah Johnson is a name to watch after his official visit to East Lansing on Dec. 2.
