Michigan State dominated the Baylor in every facet of the game on Saturday, leading to an 88-64 win. Every player, staffer and fan of Michigan State men's basketball knows why the Spartans controlled the game from the start: defense and rebounding.
Spartans Illustrated spoke to several Michigan State players after the game and are gathered their thoughts below.
Tyson Walker
Michigan State led the game from start to finish. The Spartans jumped out to a big lead early, using big runs to push them ahead.
Graduate senior guard Tyson Walker was asked about Michigan State maintaining the big lead and said, "I don't think we've ever been up 30 and kept the lead, so that's big for us to keep the lead."
MSU started fast, jumping out to a 22-7 lead at the under-12 minute media timeout, and leading 45-17 by halftime. The Spartans closed the game with a strong second half, leading to the aforementioned 88-64 victory.
Walker was also asked about his second ever dunk in his Michigan State career, which came on an alley-oop pass from senior point guard A.J. Hoggard.
"I was just showing y'all a little something," Walker said with a smirk.
Walker's alley-oop dunk put the exclamation on his 25-point day, the second time he has scored at least 25 points this season, with the other coming against James Madison where he had 35 points.
