The Michigan State football program hosted the 2023 version of "Spartan Dawg Con" this past weekend, which allowed several former players, current class of 2024 commits, recruiting targets from future classes, and the current coaching staff and players to meet and build bonds with each other.

Assistant athletic director Darien Harris, head coach Mel Tucker and the rest of the staff put together the two-day event, which featured Michigan State's unveiling of its new uniforms, surprises for the guests in attendance, including a question-and-answer session with members of MSU's men's basketball team, a photo shoot, scavenger hunt, cookout, positional meetings with coaches and more.

Three of the recruits in attendance for "Spartan Dawg Con" were in-state 2025 prospects Desmond Straughton, a three-star safety out of Roseville High School, Cashus Shivers, a three-star athlete/defensive back out of Cass Tech, and Jaylen Pitts, an offensive linemen out of River Rouge High School.

Spartans Illustrated spoke to Straughton, Shivers and Pitts after the event.
