2024 three-star wide receiver Jaylan Brown commits to Michigan State
Michigan State is not yet done adding to its 2024 recruiting class, as three-star wide receiver Jaylan Brown committed to the Spartans on Sunday.
Brown, out of Nacogdoches High School was offered by Michigan State on Jan. 17, and quickly set up an official visit to check out East Lansing. Brown was on campus for his official visit this past weekend, Jan. 26 through Jan. 28.
Ahead of the official visit, Brown told Spartans Illustrated that he was already building a strong bond with Michigan State wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins and assistant head coach/running backs coach/co-special teams coordinator Keith Bhonapha.
The official visit gave him a chance to strengthen those connections, while also getting a chance to meet head coach Jonathan Smith and the rest of the staff as well.
Brown is a late riser in his recruitment. As a senior in 2023, he caught 55 passes for 910 yards and 11 touchdowns as a senior in 2023. He earned first-team all-district honors for his performance.
In addition to Michigan State, he has offers from Washington State, North Texas and Southern University.
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound wide receiver trains with Sean Cooper of C4 Sports Performance and Fitness. Cooper also trains talented Michigan State defensive end Bai Jobe, who will be a redshirt freshman in 2024 after seeing action in just one game during the 2023 campaign.
Brown becomes the 21st member of Michigan State's 2024 high school recruiting class, and the third wide receiver. He will join four-star in-state product Nicholas Marsh and Berea, Ohio two-star speedster Austin Clay. Both Clay and Marsh signed with the Spartans during the early period in December. Marsh is already enrolled at MSU.
Brown will sign with Michigan State during the traditional period on Feb. 7. He will enroll in the summer.
