EAST LANSING - Mel Tucker is drawing upon some start-up experience this week.
This marks the third time in five years that Michigan State’s new head football coach has been a part of a new coaching staff in takeover mode.
In 2016, Kirby Smart took Tucker with him from Alabama to Georgia, to replace the fired Mark Richt.
Last year, Tucker oversaw a transition period for the first time as a head coach when he replaced the fired Mike MacIntyre at Colorado.

“The challenges that we have, at this point of the year, we're built for that,” Tucker said. “And we'll get it done. It won't take long.”
