WR Eric Rooks To Visit MSU

He's 6-3, 200-pounds and one of the top juniors in Illinois -- Eric Rooks, of De La Salle in Chicago was part of the prestigious all-Catholic League team this season.
"I learned that my team needs me to be more of a player and they look to me to make big plays for them. I did that this year, and I tried to as we played this year," Rooks said.

Rooks has received plenty of recruiting interest -- and one school that he's planning on visiting in the near future is Michigan State.
"I am planning on talking some vistis to Toledo, Bowling Green and I will be going to Michigan State soon," Rooks said.
There isn't a date for Rook's visit to Michigan State quite yet, but he knows it will be soon.
"Although I don't have a date set. I am looking forward to seeing the campus," Rooks said. "I went up there last year but this time when I go I am looking forward to spending some time with Coach Burton and Coach Johnson and seeing what they have to say. Plus see the facilities and stuff. I am probably going to camp there this summer."
The first visit to East Lansing was a good one for Rooks.
"Of course it was really, really nice but all the colleges are really nice. It just seemed like a good family group. With their players and how they did position meetings it felt like everyone was on the same page at the same time, it didn't seem like anyone was lost in the shuffle," Rooks said.
Rooks is a big bodied receiver, and this offseason is cultivating his speed by running track -- likely focusing on the 200-meter dash.
"I am always working to get faster and stronger but my goals are also to improve my running form. I have gotten faster and now it's time to take it up another notch," Rooks said.
Rooks has offers from Kansas, Toledo and Bowling Green thus far and has heard from several other Big Ten schools in the last several months.
