Video: Brother Rice TE has Offers

Birmingham Brother Rice has a history of producing talented tight ends. This year the Warriors will once again have a high level Division 1 prospect playing the position, Charlie Gantt SpartanMag.com recently received information that Gantt has picked up several offers this spring. This past weekend he made a visit to Duke University and was offered a written scholarship by the Blue Devils staff.

The 6-foot-6, 235-pound Gantt was somewhat of a sleeper recruit early on because he shared time last year with a senior tight end, but his size and athletic ability have gotten the attention of college coaches. It is not often you run across high school player who bench press 375 pounds and runs a sub 4.7 forty.

Gantt informed us that he plans on attending the NIKE Combine in Ann Arbor in May. With numerous college coaches expected to be in attendance, don't be surprised if the offers begin to roll in for Gantt with a strong performance.

Michigan State is actively recruiting Gantt and according to the Duke Rivals.com site he was informed by the Spartans that he fit the profile of "the future of tight ends at Michigan State". Coach John L. Smith is shifting MSU's tight ends to more athletic pass catching types. Gantt would seem to fit that mold.

As for summer camp plans, Gantt has stated that likely stops include Michigan State, Eastern Michigan, Purdue and Notre Dame.

SpartanMag.com will be at the NIKE Camp and will be sure to catch up with Gantt there.
