Spartans Looking For “Moore”

Last year SpartanMag.com watched a talented wide receiver from Chicago perform at the Michigan State summer camp. We later found out that the player, Orlando Moore, was only going to be a junior in 2004.

Since that time, the Spartans have kept in contact with Moore. Michigan State was the first team to offer him a scholarship. Moore has seen his recruiting stock rise with a strong junior year. That has helped him receive several scholarship offers. Moore now has offers from Michigan State, Maryland, Northern Illinois and Bowling Green. Numerous other schools like Illinois, Iowa and Purdue are in regular contact.

Moore informed SpartanMag.com that he recently attended a combine held in Chicago. Not only was Moore the fastest player in attendance, but he also was voted the top wide receiver there. Moore ran a 4.4 at that combine. That time is legit. Moore is one of the fastest players in Illinois for the class of 2005. Moore has been clocked as fast as 10.4 in the 100 Meters.

Moore said he will be visiting Michigan State soon.

“I will be at the Michigan State camp from June 13th to the 16th," he said.

It will be Moore’s third trip to East Lansing. In addition to camping at MSU last year, Moore also attended a Spartan junior day earlier this spring.

“I like it there a lot," Moore said of Michigan State University. "I am really looking forward to going back. I have to talk to Coach Mitchell and tell him about how I am doing in track.”

Assistant Reggie Mitchell is the primary recruiter of Moore for the Spartans. Mitchell landed national Top 50 Chicago offensive lineman Roland Martin last year.

In 2003, Moore was a one of the most dangerous players in Chicago. He had over 800 yards receiving and scored 10 touchdowns. Morgan Park will be one of the top teams in the city this coming fall. In addition to Moore, Morgan Park returns most of a talented squad.
