Spartans Already Setting Official Visits

Head Coach John L. Smith and the Spartans are looking towards an old stomping ground for top recruits, the Pacific Northwest. Coach Smith and several of the Spartan Coaches have strong ties to the Pacific Northwest. It looks as if they are using those connections to get one of the nation's best offensive line recruits to check out Big Ten football firsthand.

Ryan Tolar of Pasco High School in Washington is one of the top offensive line recruits for the class of 2006. The 6-foot-6, 328-pound Tolar already has scholarship offers from Washington, Washington State, Nebraska, Arizona State and Oregon.

Tolar recently indicated to Rivals.com affiliate Duck Sporty Authority that he intends on taking an official visit to East Lansing to check out Michigan State University:

"I know two of my official visits will go to Nebraska and Michigan State. I've been able to visit a lot of the schools here in the Northwest so I don't know if I'll be taking official visits at those places. I'll probably take my officials to the schools further away."

Check out the video of this massive road-grader in action. SpartanMag.com will be sure to catch up with Tolar during the May Evaluation period to see how his recruitment by the Spartans is progressing.
