Ohio RB on Spartan radar for 2018

Michigan State would like to add another running back to the class of 2018. If the Spartans are in the market for a dynamic scat-back, Raveion Hargrove of Trotwood-Madison High School in Ohio could be the perfect fit.

Hargrove has electric skills out of the backfield and last fall he helped Trotwood-Madison make the state title game. Rivals.com lists him at 5-foot-8, 162-pounds, but that is a bit generous when it come to height. His size is a big reason why power 5 teams have yet to pull the trigger on a scholarship. but he still awaits his first Power Five offer. Hargrove was committed to Bowling Green, but he recently opened his recruitment back up. I asked him about the Spartans and other teams that are showing him interest.

“Michigan State asked for my first 4 game film a few weeks ago. Coach Barnett is my recruiter, I have been up there like 3 times. It a be great to get an from them. offer. It is a great program and they are headed in the right direction. Michigan’s Offensive Coordinator called my coach and asked about me too.

Hargrove burst on the scene during his sophomore year when he rushed for over 3000-yards. While he may not reach that total this year, he is even more productive per touch. He updated me on his current statistics heading into last weekend’s game vs. Xenia.

“I have 96 carries 1326 yards 19 Td 13.8 YPC.... 8 rec 116 yards 3 TD”

Hargrove added 141-yards and 4 touchdowns on 13 carries on Friday night as Trotwood-Madison rolled over Xenia by a score of 68-21.

The lack of BCS offers is a direct reflection of the fact that Hargrove is undersized for the position. With tha being said, the same thing was stated about future NFL starts Darren Sproles and Barry Sanders when they were coming out of high school. They were fortunate to have teams like Oklahoma State and Kansas State take a chance on them. Hargrove has heard the doubters throughout his football career.

“It is what it is... I know what I can do and I know for a fact I can play for ANY power 5 team their is. It just adds fuel to the fire.”

SpartanMag.com will be sure to follow Hargrove’s season and recruitment. This coming weekend Trotwood-Madison plays Huber Heights Wayne in a showdown of powerhouse programs. Hargrove will get a chance to showcase his skills against a team which features multiple BCS players.
