The Michigan State Spartans have added an in-state 2024 preferred walk-on running back in Jaxon McCaig out of Plymouth High School.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound tailback announced his commitment on Wednesday evening via his X account.
McCaig committed to the Spartans as a walk-on over offers from Butler, Marshall and Valparaiso. He also had opportunities to play college football at Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green and Michigan.
As a senior for Plymouth this past fall, McCaig put together a very productive season with 210 carries for 1,625 yards and 21 touchdowns in nine games played.
Thanks to McCaig's performance on the field, the Plymouth Wildcats' offense averaged 32.4 points per game this season.
As a junior, McCaig was limited to just five games, but was productive when on the field with 100 carries for 622 yards and five touchdowns.
The Michigan native joins linebackers Chris Piowarczyk and Carter Enyard as well as defensive back DJ Kennard as 2024 prospects to commit to the Spartans as walk-ons.
He'll join a Michigan State running backs room that has already brought in a pair of 2024 tailbacks in the former of Texas standouts Mahki Frazier and Brandon Tullis. The group also features returning veterans Nate Carter, Jalen Berger, Jaren Mangham and others.
