Goebel Showing His Stuff

John Goebel of Birmingham Brother Rice High School is one of the top prospects in Michigan for 2006. The 6-foot-1, Goebel weighed-in just under 190-pounds at the NIKE Camp. At that weight he repped 185 pounds over 25 times. Pound for pound Goebel was one of the 5 strongest players at the event that featured close to 450 prospects.

In addition to his strength, Goebel also showed explosiveness that can be seen in his film clips below. In one clip, he out runs the speedy defensive backs of DePorres High School to the endzone.

At the NIKE Camp Goebel clocked a forty-yard dash time in the low 4.6 range. That time put him in the top 5% of all the players there. Goebel's performance in the forty-yard dash and vertical jump legitimized him as a player with explosive ability.

This spring Goebel has backed up those speed numbers by posting impressive 100M and 200M times for Brother Rice.

Goebel informed us that he plans on attending the Spartan Summer camp. Though Goebel currently plays running back his speed and size could project well as an outside linebacker or strong safety at the next level.
