Chance of Snow at MSU

One of the players Michigan State has been actively recruiting for quite a while is Jewone Snow of Canton McKinley High School in Ohio. SpartanMag.com recently caught up with the 3-star recruit and has the latest.

Michigan State fans have followed the recruitment of Snow more closely than most. The fact that he is the son of Michigan All-American Garland Rivers and the nephew of Spartan legends Percy and Eric Snow; has made him an intriguing prospect to say the least. The 6-foot-3, 237-pound prospect is rated the #31 inside linebacker in the nation and the #32 player overall in Ohio by Rivals.com.

Snow has a solid list of scholarships including top programs like Michigan State, West Virginia, Cincinnati and Purdue. He has already taken official visits to Morgantown and West Lafayette.

Snow has put recruiting on the backburner the past few weeks as Canton McKinley is in the Ohio playoffs. Last week they defeated Whitmer High School 34-13 in the opening round and will face Canton GlenOak this Saturday at 1PM at Paul Brown Stadium. A win over GlenOak could set up a game vs. Massillon. There may not be a bigger high school rivalry in the nation than McKinley vs. Massilon. The two teams have met an amazing 118 times.

SpartanMag.com asked Snow if he is still in touch with Michigan State?

"Yes, I still talk with them," he said. "I talked with Coach Narduzzi on the phone just last week."

The Spartans are very tight on scholarships, but Snow is still one of the players the staff is keeping in contact with. However, the position the staff likes Snow at could play a role in whether or not he seriously considers the Spartans.

"They (Michigan State) are saying they like me as a fullback," Snow said.

The Spartans have wanted to add a fullback to this class since they initially offered Austin Gray of Warren Fitzgerald at that spot back in March. Snow's position of preference is linebacker, but that is not eliminating the Michigan State from contention. Snow is willing to do whatever helps the team, but he would like a shot on the defensive side of the ball.

Snow went on to say that once his season is over he will turn his focus toward recruiting and decide which teams he intends to officially visit. His attention right now is returning McKinley to the top of Ohio High School Football.

SpartanMag.com has learned that Elite 11 quarterback Joe Boisture of Saline High School recently had an opportunity to throw to top 2011 wide receiver recruit DeAnthony Arnett of Saginaw High.

Needless to say, both players were impressed with the ability of each other.

Spartan Head Coach Mark Dantonio certainly wouldn't mind see Arnett catching passes from Boisture, Andrew Maxwell or Kirk Cousins in the future.

The fact that the quarterback position is a team strength should make recruiting wide receivers an easy task for Michigan State. The Spartans currently have the top passing attack in the Big Ten and Cousins and Keith Nichol are still only sophomores.
