Newly-hired Michigan State cornerbacks coach Demetrice Martin has wasted no time jumping on the recruiting trail. One of Martin's latest offers was to 2026 safety Isaiah Williams.

Williams is out of Fort Bend Marshall in Missouri City, Texas. Martin made the trip to the Lone Star State and stopped by Williams' school to connect with his coaches and send the offer out to the young defensive back.

Following the offer, Williams provided his thoughts about Michigan State, Martin and his recruitment to Spartans Illustrated.

"It felt great," Williams said about the Michigan State offer. "It was a blessing to receive that offer."

Although Martin is new to Michigan State, officially being hired on Jan. 17, Williams is already familiar with him. While at his previous stop with Oregon, Martin showed interest in Williams and the Ducks offered him in May of 2023. Martin is looking to keep that connection going now that he is coaching at MSU.

Williams is looking forward to strengthening their bond as well.

"Coach Martin came to my school, but I had a relationship with him (previously) while he was at Oregon," Williams explained. "I think Coach Martin is a very good coach and person. Let me add that he is always in a funny, joking mood and is great all around."

In addition to Martin, Williams is hoping to connect with the rest of the Michigan State coaching staff moving forward and educate himself better on the program.

"I'm hoping to learn how they operate and treat the players," Williams said when asked what he wants to see from the coaching staff.

He is not quite sure when yet, but Williams would like to visit East Lansing in the near future.

Williams' scholarship count keeps climbing. In addition to Michigan State and Oregon, several other programs have extended offers. Those schools include Ohio State, Arkansas, Arizona State, Baylor, California, Colorado, Florida, LSU, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, TCU and others.

The 6-foot-1, 192-pound Williams is an athletic defensive back with good ball skills. He is also physical and hits hard. He can play either safety positions.

"I see myself as a safety at the next level," he explained. "I describe my game as a playmaker and game-changer."

While several schools are already interested, the recruiting process is still in its early stages for Williams. He does not yet have a commitment timeline in mind.

With that said, the young defensive back knows what to look for in a program.

"Just development as a player and a chance," Williams said when asked about the factors he is looking for in a school.
