SoCal QB hits camp circuit in hopes of earning offer
Ted Landers. The accurate 6-foot-4, 195-pound signal caller from Junipero Serra High School Gardena, California has been making the rounds at a number of camps hoping to latch his first scholarship offer, and he's thinking he might be on the doorstep. The search for a quarterback in the Class of 2009 continues, and this past weekend at Oregon State's second half-day camp of the summer the Beavers got a chance to see
Attending OSU's half-day camp with Serra teammate Anthony Carpenter, Landers got a look around campus before hitting the gridiron.
"It's really beautiful up there," Landers said. "The campus is really nice and the facilities are very nice too. The camp went really good. I thought I really showed how strong my arm is and my accuracy."
Landers is hopeful he made enough of an impresson on the Beavers coaches to get a scholarship offer.
"Coach (Danny) Langsdorf and Coach (Mike) Riley talked to me a little bit, so we'll see how things progress," Landers said. "I know they have a few (QB) offers out there right now, but if they offered they'd definitely be a possibility for me."
Options are open for Landers, who also has Colorado, UCLA, Nebraska, Boise State, and Fresno State on his current school list. In fact, Landers was in-between sessions at Nebraska camp when BeaverBlitz.com reached him and Lincoln had made its impression on him too.
"Here at Nebraska, the facilities are amazing," Landers said. "Oregon State, it's really nice there. I'd say that both of them are at the top, but I just took visits to both places. I'd like to take more visits to see other places."
Landers broke down what he's generally looking for in a school and program.
"Location doesn't matter as I don't mind going away from home," Landers said. "Coaches obviously are a big deal, as well as what offense they run."
A number of top recruits were in town for OSU's second half-day camp, so stay tuned to BeaverBlitz.com as we catch up with them for their thoughts.
