Rivals5: Signing Day predictions

Rivals.com Team Recruiting Rankings | Commitment lists | Signing Day Wire

Predicting what's going to happen on Signing Day is often like throwing darts blind-folded, you'll hit the board a few times but with little accuracy.

However, Rivals.com National Recruiting Analyst Mike Farrell steps up to the line to give it his best shot.

Here are five things that Farrell expects from Signing Day:

Rivals5: Signing Day predictions
1. Media will converge on Jeannette (Pa.) High School Wednesday
The media will be there, but no one will know for sure if the nation's top player, Terrelle Pryor, will be signing or not.

As of Tuesday evening he said he is 100 percent sure he's not going to sign.

However, this was during the same day he said he was 100 percent sure he was going to sign. Stay tuned.

2. Michigan will be the busiest team
The most mystery surrounds Michigan with numerous players considering the Wolverines. If they lose out on Pryor, Michigan could go after Trotwood (Ohio) Trotwood-Madison quarterback Dominick Britt. That could help keep high school teammate Brandon Moore in the fold and lure away Michael Shaw from Penn State and Roy Roundtree from Purdue.

Offensive lineman Ricky Barnum from Florida will likely flip from the Gators to Michigan. Will Sam McGuffie stick with his commitment or will his recent visit to Cal swing him away?

3. Alabama will finish No. 1
The Tide has risen. With expected commitments from wide receiver Julio Jones and linebacker Jerrell Harris, that should be enough for Alabama to take the top slot.
4. Southern California will pull off one surprise
You just can't think Signing Day will come and go without the Trojans pulling an upset someplace along the line. This is a tough call because the main candidates are Nick Perry, T.J. Bryant and Jerrell Harris and most observers expect each of them to go elsewhere, but even if they strike out on those three perhaps a big de-commitment will come their way.
5. Tennessee will need the biggest day
After finishing No. 3 in the country in recruiting last year, the Vols enter Signing Day at No. 39. There are many highly-rated players considering Tennessee including Antoine McClain, Quinton Coples, Jerrell Harris, E.J. Abrams-Ward and Enrique Davis.

Tennessee isn't considered the leader for any of them although they do have a good shot at Coples, Abrams-Ward and Davis. But if they strike out on all of the above, watch out for a meltdown.
