Hardy talks about his big decision
Templeton Hardy, who chose State over schools from all over the country. What made him pick the Bulldogs?Mississippi State had a big camp over the weekend, resulting in several key commitments in much-needed areas. None was bigger than four-star defensive lineman
"I just liked the coaching staff and the players made me feel like I was at home," he said. Hardy is being recruited by Bulldog defensive line coach David Turner.
"All the players were telling me about how the coaches knew how to treat players and it was a good atmosphere." Hardy has finished camping for the summer and is solid in his decision.
"I have pretty much made up my mind," he said.
Hardy had off-season knee surgery, and was forced to just observe the camp over the weekend, but he said there is nothing to worry about. Everything appears to have healed and he plans to be ready for practice in a couple of weeks.
"I had some torn cartilage," he said. "They just had to clean it up."
So where does the 6-foot-4, 295-pounder fit into State's future?
"They are just telling me that I am going to be starting and I can take them to an SEC championship," he said.
Hardy was recently selected to the Clarion Ledger's 2007 Dandy Dozen team after recording 148 tackles and nine sacks as a junior. He should have no problems qualifying academically with a 3.3 GPA and an 18 on the ACT.
