RB, Romeo has Army offer
To say that running back Luca Romeo comes from a top tier program is an understatement. Cincinnati (OH) St. Xavier is as good of a football program as there is in the country and ended their season with a 15-0 record as the Bombers won their 2nd state championship in three years. They finished the season ranked 2nd in the nation in the Rivals.com Fab 50 and 5th by USA Today.
St. Xavier even claimed a victory over Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha at the 2007 Herbstreit Classic, minus their star running back, Darius Ashley (Louisville verbal).
Add to the Bombers roster 2-star DE, Greg Scruggs, Stanford commit & LB, Fred Craig, along with several Division I prospects who are juniors, and you can see how a talented ball player like Romeo might fall under the radar.
However, the 6-foot-2, 215 has one offer on the table from Army, who are very impressed with his ball carrying skills. Although he shared the backfield with players like Ashley, he totaled 618 yards rushing (5 touchdowns) & 250 yards receiving (3 touchdowns) this past season.
Romeo is a two year starter and a three year player, where he saw action in 10 games as a sophomore.
Without a doubt, the level of competition in the games, as well as practice
along with the academic reputation of St. Xavier has prepared Romeo for college life, on the field and in the class room. "Looking at our high school, it is very challenging academically and I'm looking for the same from the college I select," says and excitable Romeo.
Romeo, who is being recruited by running back coach, Tucker Waugh, visited Army this past spring during Junior Day. "Coach Waugh is coming by my school next week and he told me to take my time with my decision," shares Romeo.
Along with Army, the tough running back, who runs a 4.6 forty, is hearing from Purdue, Georgetown, Brown & Columbia.
