For many prep prospects across the country, the opening week of college football coincided with the opening week of 2007 high school football. There were a number of standout performers on Week 1, but few stood taller than Rocklin (Calif.) Sierra wide receiver Carl Moore.
As BearTerritory denoted in Arizona prospects react to Cal win, a number of prospects from the Grand Canyon state were on hand, including three of the Top 7 overall prep players - all 4-star recruits. While nearly anyone in the country could watch Covaughn DeBoskie in action, you had to have a ticket to watch No. 6 play for the Sierra Wolverines.
The fee was well worth it. Moore put on a show.
Though he played with an admittedly sore tendon in his ankle, Moore still dominated Shasta Community College, collecting 9 receptions for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns. He lined up as the Wolverine tight end on one of his touchdown receptions, knifing right through the defense and catching the ball over his shoulder for a cool "six".
The former Cordova high school standout and teammate of Cal redshirt-freshman James Montgomery appeared to be playing on just one good wheel, which is exactly what made his performance that much more impressive.
