Q&A with the Nittany Lions' newest commitment

Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney athlete Brandon Beachum lit up the room with his trademark smile on Sunday at the Youngstown Sports Grille as he proudly announced that he is intending to play his college football at Penn State.

The 6-foot, 217-pound running back became the fourth member of his Cardinal Mooney squad to make a verbal commitment to a major college program and the fifth member of the Nittany Lion recruiting class of 2008.

The four-star prospect is ranked as the No. 50 player in the country by Rivals.com, and it the No. 1 player in Ohio, according to OhioVarsity.com. Beachum took a few minutes to speak with BlueWhiteIllustrated.com on Sunday evening after a hectic day.

Below is a transcript of the interview.

BlueWhiteIllustrated.com How does it feel to be a Nittany Lion?

Brandon Beachum: It feels great. I'm actually not quite sure; the feeling hasn't really settled in yet.

BlueWhiteIllustrated.com: Can you tell us about your decision? When did you decide that this was the choice for you?

BB:
I'm really not sure. It was actually just a feeling that I had. I kind of dwelled on it for a little bit, just to make sure that I was really ready. And after I had decided, I just wanted to make sure that I was ready for the public to know. Obviously that day was today.
