Coates closing in on Spartan offer?

With offensive line recruiting becoming a priority for Michigan State, the staff was closely evaluating the prospects that were at camp. One of the players who elevated his stock with a strong performance was 6-foot-2, 310-pound Harold Coates of Youngstown Ursuline High School in Ohio. SpartanMag.com spoke with Coates last night and got the latest.

Coates is considered one of the top interior offensive line prospects in the Midwest this year. Rivals.com rates him a 3-star recruit as well as the #34 offensive guards prospect in the nation. He is also ranked the #32 player in talent loaded Ohio for the class of 2008.

"Right now I have offers from Marshall, North Carolina State, Ohio University, Indiana and Illinois," he said.
