Cal lands top DT target in Guyton

After a breakout performance at one of Cal's two-day padded camps this summer, Redmond (Wash.) three-star defensive tackle Trevor Guyton shot to the top of the Bears recruiting list. A 6-foot-4, 280-pound prospect that is sure to be one of Washington's top rated recruits in the 2008 class, quickly formed a bond with California defensive line coach Ken Delgado.

As BearTerritory chronicled in Northwest Lumber, the recruiting interest between Guyton and Cal was extremely mutual.

That bond sped up the recruiting process for the Evergreen State standout, who was planning to wait to commit until taking some official visits during his senior year. But the opportunity to play DT, where the Bears are fairly thin, plus get a Cal degree was too much to pass up.
