For Anunike, Duke was right fit

The Duke Blue Devils have landed their sixth verbal commitment for the class of 2008, as Lewis Center (OH) Olentangy tight end Kenny Anunike has committed to Ted Roof's program, according to a source close to the situation.

Anunike was offered by Duke in early May and immediately the Blue Devils became high on his list, which also included offers from Miami (Ohio), Toledo, Akron, Indiana, Air Force, Marshall, Eastern Michigan, and Pittsburgh.

"I want to major in pre-med actually. I want to be a cardiovascular surgeon," Anunike said last week in an interview with Devils Illustrated. "Football coaches really like [that goal], especially Duke which has a really strong academic background, and they are known for their medical school just down the street from [campus]. They told me it's actually one of the better fields to major in at Duke because they do have a hospital located really close to campus. They said there were a few [current Duke players in pre-med] and that they're doing really well, so I really like that fact."
