Rowell in frequent contact with OSU

The Buckeyes are interested in signing at least a couple defensive linemen for their recruiting class of 2008. They have a commitment from Washington Court House (Ohio) Miami Trace standout Nathan Williams who will at least begin his career at Ohio State playing the position Bobby Carpenter did. That is, Williams will stand up and play as a linebacker at times and put his hand down and rush the passer at other times.

The OSU staff is showing interest in a number of pure defensive line prospects and have offered a scholarship to several. While they have not offered Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville defensive tackle Shawntel Rowell, they are in contact with the 6-foot-4 and 325-pounder.

Others showing interest include Penn State, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Indiana and Purdue.
