2008 DT Vallone adds BC offer

Having won six consecutive state championships in New York's Catholic league, a powerhouse like Central Islip St. Anthony's is accustom to the annual recruiting attention paid to their top players. Defensive tackle Scott Vallone is such a prospect for 2008. Last week's offer from Boston College marks the 6-foot-3, 255-pound junior's sixth. But are the Eagles a major factor for Vallone or just an afterthought?

"They definitely fit in really well," said the 1st team Long Island selection. "I'm looking for four things. I want a combination of academics, football, atmosphere and a quality relationship and trust with my coaches.

"BC has the first three going for them. They have a great reputation for academics and their football program is good, too. I've heard the campus is beautiful.

"It's just a matter of finding out how I feel about their coaches."
