Sunshine State lineman has USC offer

Panama City (Fla.) Panama City Bay defensive lineman Kyrhi Thornton has a chance to be ranked among the better prospects in the Panhandle area of the Sunshine State, and he has two early offers on his plate.

"South Carolina and Ole Miss have offered me," the 6-foot-4, 278-pound Thornton said. "I also like Florida, Florida State, Miami, Alabama and Auburn."

Thornton, who claims a 40-time of 4.7 seconds, likes what he sees from South Carolina.

"I know Steve Spurrier is their coach, and I know they're a program that's coming up," he said. "I'd like to take a visit there, but I'll have to see how it does. My coaches are pushing me to stay in the state and go to Florida or Florida State."
