Notebook: A personal senior day for Dantonio

Saturday's game against Minnesota isn't just Senior Day for a couple of Spartans.

It's also going to be the last time senior offensive lineman Blake Treadwell plays for his godfather, Mark Dantonio at Spartan Stadium. Dantonio's relationship with Treadwell's father, Don, goes all the way back to their days at Youngstown State on Tressel's staff.

Blake was just a baby.

"Yeah, you know, the Treadwell family and the Dantonios go back a long way," Dantonio said. "With Blake, I remember when he was born, remember the christening, remember when we lived in Kansas and they came and visited us when I was coaching [at Kansas]. He had a baby bottle in his mouth as I was showing [Don] around the campus."

[db]Don Treadwell[/db] was Dantonio's offensive coordinator at MSU until leaving to take the head coaching spot at his alma mater, Miami of Ohio. He was let go mid-season this fall, but the positive side of it is the time it's allowed him to watch Blake through the second half of the season.

Saturday it will all come full circle, with the Treadwells and Dantonios soaking in another great memory they'll share.

"It's going to be very special to be out on the football field when Blake Treadwell walks out there, when Don Treadwell and Lola Treadwell are out there, as well," Dantonio said. "That's going to be very special. It's going to be a very special moment for all of us."
