Spartans set to host key visitors

This weekend Michigan State will have several key visitors on campus. SpartanMag.com takes a look at some of the top recruits that are expected to be in East Lansing on Saturday to see the Michigan State take on the South Florida Bulls.

Prospects with BCS Offers:

Montae Nicholson of Gateway Senior High School in Pennsylvania (2014)

Scoop: The 6-foot-2, 202-pound Nicholson is a 4-star recruits and the #129 prospect in the nation. He is listed as a safety by Rivals.com, but has the ability to project on either side of the ball. Some believe his wide receiver skills could have an even higher upside potential. Nicholson recently indicated that he is no longer considering the Michigan Wolverines.

Kyonta Stallworth of South lake High School in Michigan (2015)

Scoop: At one point it looked as if the 6-foot-4, 280-pound Stallworth was about to pledge green, a false report even went out that he had made his choice. The Spartans are still the team to beat and the need for an OG in the class of 2014 is imperative. The more he is on campus the better and it is not out of the question he could make the call.

Larry Scott of Hubbard High School in Ohio (2015)

Scoop: It is a great year for running back talent in Ohio and Larry Scott is one of the main reasons why. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound prospect already has an offer from Michigan State as well as ones form Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia. As a sophomore Scott rushed for over 1600-yards and scored 27 touchdowns.

Tyson Smith of Orchard Lake Saint Mary’s High School in Michigan (2015)

Scoop: Smith is one of the few select class of 2015 in-state players that has a scholarship offer from Michigan State. The Spartans are hoping to have Smith join his teammate, Jalen Watts-Jackson, in the Spartan secondary. Smith camped at Michigan State back in June so the Spartans were able to evaluate him closely.

Kei Beckham of Trotwood-Madison High School in Ohio (2015)

Scoop:Besides Cleveland Glenville, no school produces more talent year in year out that Trotwood-Madison. Beckham will be an elite recruit for the class of 2015 and he already holds scholarship offers from Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky. MSU’s success with Ohio DB’s cannot be overlooked. Getting a playerliek Beckham could pay future dividends.

LiamMcCullough Worthington Kilbourne High School in Ohio (2015)

Scoop: McCulllough is considered one of the top long-snappers in the nation for the class of 2015. He already has an offer from Michigan State and Wisconsin. The Spartsn currnly have Taybor Pepper on scholarship, but McCullough could red-shirt and then be a 4-year starter at Michigan State. Mark Dantonio takes long snapping very serious.

Thiyo Lukusa of Traverse City West High School in Michigan (2016)

Scoop: The 6-foot-5, 290-pound prospect is actually a 2016 recruit, but he already hold sand offer from the Spartans. He becomes one of the youngest recruits to receive an offer from mark Dantonio and is almost certainly the youngest OL prospect. Lukusa camped at Michigan State earlier this summer and has kept in frequent contact with Offensive Line Coach Mark Staten

Keep an eye on this recruitment:

Kyle Rachwal of Lapeer East High School in Michigan (2014)

Scoop: The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Rachwal is a player who we believe will earn multiple Division 1 offers before all is said and done. This past weekend he rushed for 170-yards on offense and racked up 17 tackles. At MSU Camp he was very close to current Spartans Byron Bullough and Chris Frey. Could the retirement of Niko Palazeti open a spot for a player like Rachwal as a potential H-Back?

Other prospects of note:

-RB Joshuwa Holloman of Avondale High School: One of fastes players in Midwest (2015)
-WR Demetric Vance of Cass Tech High School: The great WR/DB next in line at Cass Tech (2016)
-WR Jalen Martin of Chandler Park Academy High School: EMU has already pulled trigger on offer (2016)

Commits on campus:

Numerous Spartan commitments for the class of 2014 will be on hand helping the recruiting efforts and building rapport with each other.

  • DT David Beedle of Clarkston High School, Michigan
  • TE Matt Sokol of Rochester Adams High School, Michigan
  • CB Jalen Watts-Jackson of Orchard Lake Saint Mary’s High School, Michigan
  • LB Deon Drake of Detroit Cass Tech High School, Michigan
