V-Cast: Comp and PK on Nix-fueled win over Valpo

AUBURN HILLS - No. 3 seed Michigan State cruised to a 65-54 victory over No. 14 seed Valparaiso with help from a 23-point, 15-rebound effort from the team's lone senior Derrick Nix, who played just 28 minutes in the Round 2 match-up.

The Spartans shut down Valpo star Ryan Broekhoff, dominated the glass, and received a spirited performance from sophomore forward Branden Dawson.

Michigan State's win over the Horizon League Champ was a good start to the 2013 NCAA Tournament for the Spartans, who now turn their attention to an athletic Memphis ballclub that survived a good-look 3-point attempt by St. Mary's at the buzzer to advance.
