One of the top underclassmen this off-season on the camp circuit has been class of 2013 Avon (Ohio) product Ross Douglas. The 5-foot-9, 170-pound cornerback/athlete has turned in some impressive performances at some of the state's top events and is getting serious looks from programs around the country. Ohio State is one of the schools that is showing early interest and Douglas was on campus Tuesday to check out practice.

"I really liked it," said Douglas. "It was really hyped up for a spring practice. It was more of a situational type of practice today and they were playing the Michigan fight song and everyone was getting crazy. It was really entertaining to watch."

While Douglas is a very good high school running back, his future is likely on the defensive side of the football as a corner. Douglas made sure to keep a close eye on the Buckeyes' secondary during practice and came away impressed with what he saw.

"I just focused on the DB's and focused on how coach (Taver) Johnson was coaching the defensive backs," he explained. "They have some good athletes on their football team, especially in the defensive secondary and especially at wide receiver. DeVier Posey is the best athlete on that team."

While on campus, Douglas had a chance to talk with his main recruiter and get some feedback on his film.

"I spent a lot of time talking to coach (Taver) Johnson the defensive backs coach and (director of football operations) Greg Gillum," he said. "They just said that they've already watched my film and that they were impressed with my film and that they want me to come down for the two-day camp on June 23rd and 24th. They said they are evaluating me very closely."

Douglas and his family have definitely taken an aggressive approach to his recruitment. The family has been to several schools already this off-season and will be using a vacation in Florida this coming week as a chance to see a trio of big time football programs.

"We're going (to Florida) for a vacation but I'm going to go on three college visits while I'm down there," he explained. "I'm going to the University of Florida, Florida State, and Miami. I'm looking forward to it because it's a chance to get to see what the teams down south are like."

In addition to the Ohio State visit, Douglas recently checked out a pair of BCS programs from the ACC and Big Ten respectively.

"I've been to North Carolina and Michigan State recently," he said. "Those trips were really good. I really liked North Carolina, their coaching staff showed me a lot of love. Michigan State was pretty good, too. I went to their spring practice. I liked Michigan State too but it was a little cold up there."
