Cook checks out Spartan practice
A few weeks ago quarterback Connor Cook of Walsh Jesuit High School in Ohio attended a Spartan Junior Day. At that event he was offered a scholarship. Yesterday he was on campus again for a closer look. SpartanMag.com caught up with Cook and got some details about his visit and his future plans.
Head coach Mark Dantonio and the Spartans started spring practice yesterday. Cook was on hand to check things out and learn more about the school and the program. Since being offered by Michigan State, several other BCS teams have turned up the heat on his recruitment. SpartanMag.com asked Cook about his visit.
"It went well," Cook said. I was able to talk with Coach Dantonio and Coach Warner. I just hung out and watched practice. I got a better idea of how o would fit in there. They run a pro-style offense and that is what I feel comfortable in."
Some had speculated that Cook could make a decision while on campus, but that is not the case and he indicated that the Spartans did not pressure him toward making one.
"Coach Dantonio told me that there is no need to rush into a decision. He did say they are planning on taking only 1 quarterback this year. I have not made any plans to visit any other school but I think I will Cincinnati's spring practice and UI am also going to try and make it to Boston College."
Cook will almost certainly stop into East Lansing this summer for a session of camp. He also plans on hitting some other major camps and combines later this spring. He will be hitting the Elite 11 and NIKE Camp that will be held in Columbus in may.
