Southwick shines at NIKE
One thing was very apparent at last Saturday's NIKE Camp held in Palo Alto was the fact there were an abundant amount of quarterbacks on hand. It wouldn't be surprising if several signal callers in attendance end up getting D-I scholies. One of them will no doubt will Joe Southwick (6-2, 181, 4.68) from Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley.
Southwick is coming off an outstanding junior season that saw him throw for 3,384 yards and 37 touchdowns against only nine interceptions. His performance saw him earn Area Offensive Player of Year, first-team all-state and first-team all-metro.
Colleges definitely have taken notice. He currently has three offers from Boise State, Nevada and San Jose State. It appears that his offers could climb even higher before the spring evaluation period is over.
"Things have really picked up for me," Southwick said. "There have been a lot of schools that have come by this spring."
