Red zone offense key area of emphasis
EAST LANSING - With a victory at Iowa last weekend, Michigan State cleared a significant early hurdle toward contention in the Legend Division race.
But if the Spartans are going to legitimately challenge for the division title, they need to do something about that red zone offense of theirs.
Michigan State (4-1) has scored only eight touchdowns in 18 trips into the red zone this year, ranking last in the Big Ten in that category. The Spartans were No. 10 in that statistic prior to Saturday's 26-14 victory at Iowa. But after scoring no touchdowns in five trips into the red zone against the Hawkeyes, the Spartans fell below Iowa and Purdue into last place in that category."
