Dantonio bothered by pass interference calls
SOUTH BEND - Mark Dantonio didn't want to talk about the way the 77th meeting between Michigan State and Notre Dame was officiated.
But the Spartan coach was bothered by the five flags that were thrown against his corners Darqueze Dennard and
Dennard, a first team All-Big Ten defensive back, was flagged for defensive holding in the first half before drawing a flag for pass interference in the fourth quarter on a play in which he appeared to have intercepted Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees.
Waynes was flagged for pass interference three times by the Big Ten officiating crew assigned to Saturday's game.
Penalties were one factor in Michigan State's demise. The Spartans also struggled to score touchdowns inside the red zone.
A botched trick play that that took potential points off the board in the third quarter didn't help Michigan State's cause.
