Ulis excited about offer from his dream school
EAGAN, Minn. - Tyler Ulis is a different player than his cousin Travis Walton, a three-year captain at Michigan State, who was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year as a senior in 2008-2009.
But the Marian Catholic star plays with the same toughness and determination that defined Walton's career in Tom Izzo's program.
The 5-foot-8, 150-pound point guard's refusal to be sidelined by the pain of a shoulder injury played a key role in Meanstreets' 40-35 victory over Team Scan in a crucial divisional match-up during the final weekend of regular season games in the NIKE Elite Youth Basketball League.
With the win over Team Scan, and victory over previously undefeated Team Takeover one night earlier, Meanstreets all but wrapped up a spot in the 24-team Peach Jam, which serves as the championship for EYBL teams.
