Dantonio Video: Speech at SMSB Camp

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - Since its inception, the Sound Mind Sound Body camp has distinguished itself from similar events by placing as great an emphasis on life skills as it does on football instruction.

Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio praised event organizers for the two-fold approach of their camp on Thursday during a talk to student athletes on the skills necessary for success in football and life.

Dantonio told campers that achieving dreams is only possible through hard work, determination, and making the right decisions.

"You've got the dream, how long does it take you to get to the dream?" Dantonio said. "How long can you withstand all of the discomfort, all of the challenges, all of the choices that you have to make as a person to get the dream? It takes a little bit of time guys.

"Coming to the Sound Mind Sound Body camp does not guarantee you a scholarship. It just doesn't. What you do the rest of the days of the year is going to determine those things. It is going to determine whether you go to college, what you do. It is going to be the choices that you make away from here."
