Florida football coach Urban Meyer made official Thursday what has long been expected: Sophomore receiver Frankie Hammond Jr. will not play in Saturday's opener against Miami of Ohio because of a summer DUI arrest.

Hammond caught only four passes for 57 yards last season with one touchdown but was expected to challenge for a starting spot after an excellent spring. Following his arrest, he was taken off scholarship. He could be back on scholarship as early as January, Meyer said recently.

The question now: When will Hammond be able to play?
