Spartans sit well with Anchor Bay athlete
Michigan State made New Baltimore (Mich.) Anchor Bay athlete Taiwan Jones an early priority, offering the 6-3, 205-pounder a scholarship in November, and so far it seems that early interest is paying off for the Spartans.
Dan Enos, MSU's former Detroit-area recruiter, first targeted and had been in contact with Jones, but when Enos left MSU to become the head coach at Central Michigan, Mark Dantonio took over where Enos left off.
The Spartans haven't missed beat.
"They were at the school I think it was last week, or the week before last," Jones said. "Coach Dantonio and Coach (Mike) Tressel and Coach (Pat) Narduzzi came (to see my coach)
My coach said they are very interested in me."
The Spartans project Jones at outside linebacker or safety.
"I think they want to bring me onto campus and see what position I fall into," Jones said.
